Acne affects different people in different ways. Discover more about the different way that it presents itself and the specific treatments that we’ve below:

Facial Acne
We have helped hundreds of clients regain control of their facial acne and restore their self-confidence. Many of our practitioners have experienced acne themselves, so understand how upsetting & frustrating breakouts can be . Our skincare practitioners are passionate about achieving results and restoring their clients trust in acne fighting treatments & products after years of trying high street ‘solutions’ that fail to deliver on clear skin promises.

Body Acne
The summer months often mean that we have to dare to bare as the temperature rises and we can’t cover up body acne with layers of clothing. We know that this can be a cause of discomfort & concern for many people experiencing breakouts across their bodies, but our range of acne treatments can be used to clear & calm skin across the back.

Why do I get body acne?
The only parts of the body that we don’t have sebaceous glands (responsible for producing the oily substance ‘sebum’) are our palms of hands & soles of feet, meaning that you can get acne across pretty much any other body part. Body acne is caused in principle by the same factors that cause facial acne, but can often result in more severe lesions because pores are larger across areas such as the back than on the face.
Certain factors can aggravate & irritate body acne further such as getting friction or getting sweaty as you exercise. To help your skin recover, swap your usual body wash for a product containing active acne fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid.

Female acne
Women can experience their first breakout of acne throughout the 20’s, 30’s or even 40’s having never had it as a teenager. For many women, acne breakouts or flare ups are often worse at certain times throughout the month or during pregnancy. This is due to the flux in hormone levels which increases the skin’s production of natural oils. Hormones can play a big role in breakouts, which can explain why female breakouts can be more erratic than the flare up pattern for men, whose hormones tend to fluctuate less throughout the month.
If you’re reading this, then it’s likely that you’re part of the more than 20% of adult women out there experiencing acne. According to the ADA, the majority of women with active flare ups struggle with facial acne. Whether you experience breakouts across your face or body, we are here to help you start your path to clear skin with our range of proven treatments.

Male acne
Men can experience their first breakout of acne throughout the 20’s, 30’s or even 40’s having never had it as a teenager. In fact, up to 25% of men will experience some form of acne in their adult lives. The most common breakout areas are the chest and back, with fewer men also experiencing flare ups on the face than their female counterparts.

Why am i getting acne as an adult?
By its nature, acne is a hormonal condition. Androgens (male hormones) are found in higher levels in men they are in women after puberty, which causes men to typically have thicker & more oily skin. Body acne develops in a similar way to facial acne but can often result in more frequent & severe lesions because pores are larger across areas such as the back than on the face.

What factors can aggravate acne?

  • Getting hot & sweaty after working out – to help your skin recover, swap your usual body wash for a product containing active acne fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid.

  • Body building – if you’re trying to bulk up by increasing your calorie intake, your body responds by increasing the production of androgens, which in turn increases the production of sebum.

  • Shaving – irritation from shaving & shaving products can irritate blemished skin. If you’re not digging the beard look, take a look at the top shaving tips from acne.org
